The cameras of The Eagle Pass News Gram were on hand in both downtown Eagle Pass and in our neighboring community of Quemado on Friday as 4th of July celebrations were held simultaneously and nice crowds attended both functions.

In Eagle Pass both US Congressman Pete Gallego and State Representative Alfonso Nevarez were both here to grace this very important event with their presence.

About thirty entries participated in this glorious tribute to our great nation including the VFW Color Guard who opened the parade to the sounds of police and fire department sirens.

In Quemado a wonderful celebration was also held at exactly 10:00 despite the community being a rather small one, the celebration was very impressive.

Units from the Maverick County Sheriff's Department escorted the parade at its inception and directed traffic as to protect the participants.

Children participated on their bikes as they along with their parents came together to honor our country on this the most patriotic of holidays.

The parade culminated at the rodeo fairgrounds where parents reunited with their children and where the celebration continued on into the afternoon.
