Almost 500 graduates walked the stage on Friday evening at Eagle Pass High School's Commencement Ceremony where Gilbert Gonzalez urged his graduates to excel and fulfill their academic goals in college.

"Class of 2014, your accomplishments are outstanding.I see before me students with intelligence, with character and skills ready to contribute to society, said Superintendent Gonzalez,"I see you as a catalyst for change. You are charged with the responsibility to change the world."

Salutatorian Rocio Moncivais called on the spirit of Abraham Lincoln to aid her through her spectacular Salutatorian's Address, "There is so much potential in front of me today.  You are the only person who can be held responsible for what you do in life, not your parents, not your friends, but only you.  If anything, persistence and determination are the keys to success.  Success cannot be defined by the amount of time studying.  You define success."

Valedictorian Marcela Cabral Seáñez also addressed her classmates by saying, "Don't be afraid to fail, failure has nothing to do with success.  In fact we can learn from failure.  For the past eighteen years, you have surrounded yoursel with wisdom, with knowledge.  You've found yourself ready to board this train.  It will be a bumpy ride, that's guaranteed.  So let me ask you now.  Are you all ready to board this train?  Because I sure hope to see you at the next stop.  Thank you my fellow graduates and congratulations."

With this Principal Vale Moreno announced that the graduates were fully certified to receive their diplomas and the graduation took place in front of hundreds and hundreds of family, friends and acquaintances.
