On Tuesday, the proprietor of Wickstrom Chevrolet, Pedro Marquez, Sr. passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease in the city of San Antonio surrounded by family and friends.
Born on February 26, 1935, Marquez was a 1953 graduate of Eagle Pass High School and an active member of the Eagle Pass Evening Lions Club for 45 years and a strong supporter of the Eagle Pass Chamber of Commerce. On Tuesday, the day of Mr. Marquez passing, the 2014 Chamber of Commerce Pedro Marquez, Sr. Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 was symbolically awarded to CC Winn's Luis Alfonso Aguado, so to his dying day, he was and will continue to make a difference in the lives of Eagle Pass youngsters.
He loved his family and worked hard and he would give the sweater off his back for a family in need.
Pedro is survived by wife Ramona Marquez, sons Pete Marquez, Jr. (and wife Yvette) and Fred Marquez. His pride and joy were his grandchildren Monique, Jeanette and Trey Marquez.
Funeral arrangements for Mr. Marquez are being handled by Yeager-Barrera Mortuary. Viewing will be today from 12:00-9:00 PM and funeral services are set for Friday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Refuge Church.
