A four car pileup was caused by the driver of a 1998 white Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Adrian Rodriguez, 26, who was unable to control his rate of speed while the drivers of units #2-4, a 2014 Gold Chevy Van, an '06 Black Jeep and an '01 Red Ford all slowed down on El Indio Highway.

According to a report by Humberto O. Garza, Public Information Officer for the EPPD, the driver of the Grand Prix left the scene with two passengers on board.

Officers from the Eagle Pass ISD heard of the fact that their colleagues were in search of the individual and proceeded to apprehend the driver and one passenger while the other fled the scene and was not able to be found.

When confronted by officers, the driver appeared to show signs of intoxication and was driving with an invalid license.  He was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving without a valid license and leaving the scene of an accident.  The man's situation was compounded by the fact that he had several outstanding warrants in Municipal Court.

The passenger who was identified as Fernando Lee Sada, 27, also showed signs of intoxication and was charged with public intoxication.

According to the report, no one requested medical attention.

Rodriguez was also charged with driving without insurance, operating an unregistered vehicle and had previously been convicted of DWI (A Class B misdemeanor) making this his second which is a Class A misdemeanor.
