The meeting served to coordinate actions from the participating parties, Police Chief Tony Castaneda had some concerns over the duration of the project considering that the proposed plans would cause several weeks and even months of traffic problems in a busy part of the city where Veteran's Blvd meets Del Rio Blvd. He also stated that additional man power would be needed to provide security and traffic control to the area and that either the state or the company in charge of the construction project would be viable sources for the additional funding of police personnel.
It is thought that the city police and TxDOT can find some sort of accord regarding this matter, also adding to the complexity of the project is the proximity to some elementary schools namely Robert E. Lee which could pose some safety risks as well as some high traffic situations on Monroe Street during peak hours.
