Alcozer went 5-2 before opening his own gym and starting his team. He is now fighting professionally and holds a 1-0 record.
He had his pro debut on the 14th of March against Kevin Fanning in the 145 Lb. weight class. After two tough rounds where both kicks and punches were landing for both fighters, Fanning took him to the canvas with a submission hold.
After a significant portion of the first round which had Paulo defending himself effectively from straight punches while inflicting a significant amount of punishment to his Fanning's face and body, he was able to get back on his feet to end the round.
Round 2 found him struggling after receiving the first real blow to his head which got a loud reaction from the crowd, Alcozer gained his bearings and finished the round strong.
It was with :52 remaining into the third and final round that he was able to get Fanning down in a submission hold called a guillotine choke hold which caused his opponent to withdraw giving Alcozer his first pro victory.
