This begins to solidify what sources close to this project say benefits our community two-fold, two economic drivers which can potentially make Eagle Pass the most important border for potential business between the Eagle Ford and Mexico.
Benjamin Factor, representative of TSGI (The Solutions Group Infrastructure) and Engineer Dan Hajl of Hajl, Lee and Associates were on hand to answer any questions commissioner's court may have in reference to their item on the agenda, "The bigger value is creating these other zones to capture the production value of these TRZ's (Transportation Reinvestment Zones) to capture future growth," stated Factor, "Our intent is to be able to go back and present our findings from our initial assessment and have the court approve the next phase."
The other aspect of the plan is for Eagle Pass and Maverick County to become the industrial hub for future development in the foreseeable future now that the energy reform has been approved in Mexico.
"We feel that Maverick County is positioned geographically to be the best industrial hub," added Factor, "The #1 Union Pacific crossing in the State of Texas."
According to Hajl, the cost of paving Maverick County's 14 miles of road on Old Mines Road would be $20 million, but if the county plans proactively by establishing these zones, such a project could come to fruition.
