Carrizo Springs BP Station Hosts Law Enforcement Career Day
CARRIZO SPRINGS, Texas -
On March 17, the Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Station hosted a Law Enforcement Career Day for local high school students. Approximately 30 juniors and seniors, who are enrolled in criminal justice classes and members of the Law Enforcement Club, attended the event. All these students have shown an interest in following a law enforcement career.
Throughout the day students were introduced to the duties that Border Patrol agents experience throughout their careers. At the event students visited different booths where they learned about a variety of topics including: firearms, horse patrol, roving patrol and border security. The agents who participated in the event gave a presentation on the different tools and technology used to assist in securing the border.
The knowledge and experience the students gained will help them in deciding whether to pursue a law enforcement career. “A special thank you is extended to all the agents of the U.S. Border Patrol Station in Carrizo Springs for their time and effort to put this tour together,” said Rosalinda Ortiz, College Readiness/Career Technology Coordinator.
The Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
