38 Special Back Where They Belong: Don Barnes and the band tear into "Caught Up In You" to the delight of the hundreds who made the concert which included a variety of music styles including the country hit "Honky Tonk Dancer," the fabulous "If I'd Be The One," their smash hit "Hold On Loosely" and even a version of ZZ Top's "Just Got Paid."  For a complete review of this incredible performance, check out Thursday's edition of your Eagle Pass News Gram.

When 38 Special took the stage on Monday as part of the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino Concert Series, they were prepared to deliver a barrage of solid straightforward Southern Rock delivered at maximum volume.

Not visible due to the ramps at either side of the drum riser, an effect seen in stage setups such as Robert Plant's Honeydrippers in the early 80's, were the Marshall stacks which we could definitely hear and feel throughout the evening as Don Barnes and the boys gave the crowd a very well thought out set which grew dramatically before climaxing in the thunderous crescendo of "Chain Lightin'" and their smash hit "Caught Up In You".

The band tore into "Rockin' Into The Night" to the delight of the excited fans who came from across the state to see one of A&M's biggest sellers of all time, who as label mates of Bryan Adams and The Police, they and their repertoire have stood the test of time.

Barnes gave his double-cut Les Pauls a good workout even providing us with a blistering solo on his green tiger-striped model before bandmates guitarist Danny Chauncey and drummer Gary Moffatt followed suit with solos of their own.  Keyboardist Bobby Capps showed his range on the hard rockin' "Good Time Tonight" in which he incorporates an impressive vocal range reminiscent of AC/DC's Brian Johnson.

It was here that the night really began to heat up as the band tore into the ZZ Top classic "Just Got Paid" and then their chart-topping classic "Caught Up In You".

The band left the stage and the crowd brought them back out for a well-deserved encore where the sounds of thunder claps and lighting bolts advised the crowd that 38 Special was back and after a massive rendition of "Chain Lightnin'" and "Hold On Loosely" which the crowd sang along to, they still treated us to a raucous version of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Traveling Band" before going off into the night after the greatest rock show to ever hit Eagle Pass.
