Felix Carrasco, Training Officer for the Eagle Pass Fire Department oversaw the training of twenty four of his men as conducted by TEEX, the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service on Monday.

The training is part of a mandatory regimen which each fire fighter must undergo each and every year and will prepare them to deal with emergencies such as chemical waste incidents and other situations which might involve hazardous materials.

The firefighters could be seen at the Fire Department wearing bright yellow Hazmat suits and maneuvering around what seemed to be barrels of hazardous chemicals eerily leaking out into the open air.

The firefighters work to contain the chemicals in order to protect the general public and themselves from any kind of direct contact, ingestion or even inhalation.

For a complete rundown on the comings and goings of this training session, and the exclusive interview with Officer Carrasco, check out Thursday's edition of your Eagle Pass News Gram.
