The crackling of flames which engulfed a mobile home on Las Quintas Blvd. on Thursday caused smoke to billow up into the air and be seen for miles. Fire engines and law enforcement officials directing traffic could be seen in the foreground and the meticulous, calculated movements of firefighters preparing hoses and attacking the blaze could also be seen, however the fire was completely involved and there seemed little the men could do to save the home.
Assistant Fire Chief Sonny Mello informed The News Gram that while the fire remains under investigation, but it occurred around 9:30 PM and as of preliminary indications are that the fire could have originated in the electrical wires toward the rear of the residence.
"We extinguished the fire quickly, but the fire broke through the windows, it vented and the wind consumed it," said Mello, "We're still investigating in order to rule out any other causes."
Chief Mello also pointed out that as far as they know right now, the three residents of the home were not in the trailer when it began.
Preliminary indications are that the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
