District personnel will continue to monitor local weather forecasts and communicate with the National Weather Service AND TX Dot as we approach the scheduled opening of classes on Tuesday, January 28th and Wednesday, January 29th. All EPISD Personnel will follow the established Inclement Weather Protocol:
The Assistant Superintendent for Support Services and Transportation Director will provide the following support:
- Enable the EPISD Advisory Board to meet on Monday, January 27, 2014 to assess up to date information regarding the approaching cold front.
- Assess the condition of all district roads at 4:00 a.m. on January 28, 2014.
- Monitor Weather Reports and revaluate at 5:00a.m
By 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January, 28, 2014, senior staff representing school leadership, transportation, food service and public safety, in consultation with the National Weather Service and TX Dot will report findings and recommendations to the Superintendent.
No later than 5:30 a.m., the Superintendent will make a final decision to maintain normal school business hours, delay school openings or cancel classes for the day.
The decision will be communicated to members of the EPISD School Board. The public will be notified of school closures or delays through local media outlets to include the EPISD website and social media such as Twitter and the EPISD Blog.
