As reported last year in the pages of your Eagle Pass News Gram, Walgreen's Pharmacy will indeed be opening a new branch in our fair city across from Maverick County Lake and adjacent to IBC. The chain recently opened a branch in Uvalde. The Planning Department of the City of Eagle Pass approved the issuance of a permit for the construction of a Walgreens Pharmacy, according Brian Shea, Director of City Planning at the last city council meeting.

He said the chain acquired lakefront property on Main Street, where construction is expected to begin this year. He also stated that representatives of the chain were in the community to submit drawings of what this project is to look like upon completion as well as to turn in the necessary permits for construction. The Planning Director of the City of Eagle Pass, which recently unveiled a report to City Council on this project and other works in process of construction taking place in the community continues to seek out growth opportunities for our city which may include a new Academy Sporting Goods location as well as a new location for Brown Chevrolet on Highway 277 and the brand new United Medical Center on El Indio Highway. Eagle Pass has seen significant growth in commercial and private construction in the past two years.
