Sandra Tenorio Executive Director of Texas Rural Communities has informed The News Gram of the pending deadline for organizations and programs in rural areas that advance community development, including but not limited to environmental, economic or educational programs for the benefit of rural communities.
Some of the organizations in this area who may be able to benefit are our 4H organizations, the Maverick County Extension Office, Quad Counties based out of Del Rio and the Eagle Pass Independent School District. If our readers know of any non-profit organizations such as these who may qualify, these are free monies which can be put to use to help the citizens of Maverick County.
She added that TRC makes two kinds of grants, recognition grants of up to $5,000 and impact grants from $5,001 to $25,000.
All that is required is for the organization to have a 501(c) 3 certificate which must have a non-governmental sponsor that maintains appropriate tax status and the application must include a letter of support from the President/Chair of the sponsoring organization.
Applications must be postmarked no later than January 20, 2014.
To see a complete copy of the application requirements you can click on the link or go to www.texasrural.org or you can call 800-787-2589 for all the details.
