I know Coach Graf, Gonzalez, Villaseñor and all of our basketball, volleyball, baseball and softball coaches knew and worked with him to be able to shed light on their programs. Rey was not only a gifted sports writer and musician but also an avid poker player and competed in a variety of poker tournaments. On June 28th of this year, Rey lasted a little over five hours at the 44th annual World Series of Poker which was held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas playing against 2,101 opponents in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em event Sifuentes’ eighth bid for that most coveted gold bracelet which was one of Rey's passions. Rey’s professionalism and dedication to sports writing will be sorely missed. On behalf of the entire staff here at The Eagle Pass News Gram we send our deepest condolences to the entire Sifuentes Family in this their time of most need.

On Tuesday, December 17th, Eagle Pass News Gram Sports Reporter Rey Sifuentes, Jr. suddenly and stunningly passed away leaving all of us here at your Eagle Pass News Gram in a state of solemn disbelief. Sifuentes, as all of our varsity coaches at both Eagle Pass High School and CC Winn High School know, would work from his home office in Mount Pleasant, Texas to assist us in covering the sports accolades, accomplishments and achievements of our local Eagles and Mavericks in a way all his own.
