" Billy Davis, Gloria Hernandez, General Counsel for the KTTT, Sheriff Tom Schmerber, Asalia Casares, Judge David Saucedo who added, "You can appreciate the true leadership that exists within this organization, The Kickapoo Nation is a prime example. What an amazing job this nation has done with this organization in such a short period of time. It's an honor to be able to go to a board meeting in Dallas or to go to meet with representatives in Austin and the first thing they ask about is the Kickapoo Nation." Mr. Tracy King was also on hand. King was very instrumental in the early development of this and many other projects dealing with the Kickapoo Nation. State Senator Carlos Uresti also took time out of his busy schedule to attend the ribbon-cutting, "There's a lot of wonderful opportunities in Austin, but one of my proudest moments of my senate career was when I acknowledged the Kickapoo Tribe there on the Senate Floor a few sessions ago, so even though I could've been at a hundred different places, I was not going to miss this and I thank Gloria Hernandez for the invitation. Mr. King, what a beautiful casino, what a wonderful hotel, what a great tribute to what you gave back to our community. I think you all should be very proud of today and the many things that will come. I wish you all the best of luck." The Mexican Consulate, Ismael Naveja-Macias was also here representing our neighboring country of Mexico. Jesus Pader-Villarreal, a representative of the Governor of Coahuila, was also present, "I would like to congratulate you on behalf of Governor Ruben Moreira, who has an excellent relationship with the Kickapoo Tribe. He recognizes profoundly the efforts, their courage to preserve their customs." Luis Galinares from Yates Construction was here to inform all in attendance that November 3rd, 2010, the tribe signed the contract for Phase I Capital Improvement, said Galinares, "In turn it set up a series of events we've got this great new hotel and casino, we've built all these parking lots, a new lift station and believe it or not, 8 miles of utility work had to be completed pretty much encompassing over a million square feet of construction. JC Jay, Joe Berafaldi, the designer of the new hotel and casino and all the mechanical, electrical and civil engineers, some of the folks from Skanska USA, A.E. Hiller, Alvin Stock and all of those who helped." Galinares donated two water-color painting depicting the progress the tribe's made which he hopes will be prominently displayed here. The new Hotel and Casino which boasts a modern, comfortable lobby with all the amenities such as an official gift shop where you can come away with an array of souvenirs to take back to show off to your friends and family wherever you may be from as well as a fine bar with a friendly staff who is always ready to make your stay at the new hotel that much more pleasurable. After you've checked in and have maybe tried your luck at the thousands of slot machines, the bingo hall, the high limit area or even at the poker room, you can enjoy one of three new places to sample the local fair at either the buffet, the Mesquite Grill or the all-new, super-elegant and intimate Sage Steak House. An event which has taken a great amount of time and planning came to fruition on Monday, October 28th at the #1 tourist spot Eagle Pass and Maverick County has to offer, the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino. On hand Robin Miller General Manager of the Casino, Tribal administrator Mr. Don Spaulding, Juan Gonzalez Kisisika, Chairman, Jesús Anico Chacodata, Secretary of the Tribal Council as well The Mayor of the City of Eagle Pass, Ramsey English- Cantú, who said "We have established a wonderful working relationship with the tribal council and administration here within the tribe and we only look forward to that bettering itself that overall benefits our economy.
