WOAI's Emily Baucum and Marco Smith were both in town to be the first of what are sure to be many media requests to fall upon CC Winn High School. Baucum was here to interview the two girls and their sponsors, Sonia Delgado and Azalea Perez for the 6:00 news on WOAI-TV in San Antonio. "This is only the beginning of my journey of fighting for equality," stated Hernandez eloquently as Baucum fired question after question at the new celebrities, "I want to applaud Jennifer for backing me up in this, because there are many people who want to think that she is gay, but that's not true, she wanted to make a difference like me. Baucum asked,"Do you think anything else is going to top this your senior year?" to which Hernandez said, "I don't think so, this was pretty awesome. When they made the announcement we were just so happy that we actually won. We had these big smiles on our faces and we were so happy." "Do you think the guys were upset that there was no king this year?" added Baucum. "Actually the football players came up to us to congratulate us so there was a lot of support from the student body because they were the ones who made this decision and we thank them." "We would like for you to include all of us (The Royal Court) because we all worked extremely hard to accomplish this," Their sponsors wanted to thank Mr. Jesus Diaz-Wever for his support in the creation of the club itself whose constitution states that it is for students of CC Winn High School who are gay, straight, or are concerned with the climate of CC Winn High School and are interested in forming an alliance to end bullying and in promoting equal treatment of all students regardless of their personal preferences, sexual orientation or gender identity.
