Over 3,500 people attended Commencement for CC Winn High School on Friday at the Cozel Foster-Veteran's Memorial Stadium as Valedictorian Alejandra Rodriguez, in a highly emotive and inspirational speech which gave her classmates insight on the benefits of challenging oneself, how hard work pays off, perseverance,  and the need to work at the things you want to accomplish in life.  The top graduate of the Class of 2013, a class near and dear to this reporter's heart and a class full of academic talent who have proved themselves  in the arena of UIL Academics, Music and Athletics.

America Ruiz, the Salutatorian of the class, thanked her parents and reiterated the aforementioned sentiments by confirming that they were indeed an 'Awesome' class.

Principal Jesús Díaz-Wever reflected on goal setting and that, "Life is about choices and the fact that even though this class had obstacles, they were able to overcome them."

"La vida esta llena de oportunidades," added the Venezuelan native, proud of his heritage and always eloquently addressing our parents in his first language, before wishing Mr. Rudy Bowles a happy retirement.

Roger Villalpando impressed those gathered with an original composition he performed for the crowd and the strains of "The Victors," the Fight Song of the CC Winn Mavericks and our Alma Mater permeated the air on this magnificently cool and symbolic evening.

The Eagle Pass News Gram congratulates the Class of 2013 and their parents and wishes them Godspeed and good luck in all their future endeavors.
