EPPD officers were called to the Hampton Inn at the 3300 block of Main St. at about 8:00 P.M. where they had received reports that an individual was threatening to do themselves bodily harm.
When they arrived to the receptionist's desk and inquired about the call, they were told that hotel personnel were unaware of the call, but there was a large group of patrons who were on the third floor.
Upon arriving on the floor, the officers detected an order of marijuana emanating in the hall of the floor. In an attempt to determine the origin of the smoke, the officers noted noise coming from a particular room which had a stronger odor coming from that door.
Police knocked on the door of the hotel room and were not surprised to see the smoke and proceeded to conduct a preliminary search of the habitation, they found marijuana in a quantity determined to be for personal use, however there was also cocaine found.
Six as of yet unidentified men and one woman were detained, apprehended and were being held at EPPD for further questioning.
In an isolated incident, Lieutenant Escamilla also informed The News Gram that a 2001 Ford Pickup Extended Cab was pulled over for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed that the driver of the truck was showing signs of nervousness,
Upon further investigation, a Border Patrol K-9 unit was dispatched to the area who alerted officers to the existence of 305 Lbs. of a green, leafy substance in bundles which upon further inspection was determined to be marijuana.
The male driver and female passenger were both detained and are in custody at this time at the Eagle Pass Police Department.
