An EPPD official is presently in Ruidoso, NM to participate in a training for a new prevention program which is going to be established in Eagle Pass.
The aforementioned information was given to The News Gram by Chief of Police Juan Antonio Castañeda who mentioned his intentions of initiating a D.A.R.E. Program at the secondary level to attempt to deal with the rampant drug abuse and gang pressure at these junior high levels.
He added that these types of programs are very important and in order for them to work, the need the cooperation of the EPISD.
The D.A.R.E. Program is a program geared to 1st-5th Grades at the elementary levels.
He feels that there has been a need for this program at the secondary level for some time now and is taking the initiative to focus on the junior high levels at this time this coming school year.
