The ICT was the backdrop for the 2012 Eagle Pass Job Fair coordinated by the Texas Workforce Commission.
Approximately 1000 prospective employees descended on the ICT in search of employment as the event was termed by all involved as a resounding success as companies from across South Texas from 26 different businesses and employers came in and took resumés and applications for positions they so desired to fill ranging from oil field hands to truck drivers and clerks to office assistants, cooks, nurses and care givers.
As soon as doors opened, a very large line of job seekers filed into the main conference room of the ICT.

Mayor Ramsey English-Cantú said that they had people asking about the fair since 6:00 A.M. that morning from people who simply want to work in order to provide for their families.
Mayor Cantú said that the fair will assist in dropping the unemployment rate significantly in our area.
Ronnie Rivera of the Texas Workforce Commission said that it all went smoothly and estimates that approximately 500 jobs and even went on to mention that one company offered as many as 300 jobs alone. According to Rivera, over 1400 prospective employees were able to meet with these companies, the largest fair of its kind in this area.
"In going around and talking with employers, they were satisfied with the number of job seekers who came out," stated Rivera, "They were also satisfied with the quality of the prospective employees, but they really liked the turnout."
Rivera said that the largest job fair he had seen was the job fair in Carrizo Springs in February of 2011 which had 1200 job seekers, 700 of which were from Eagle Pass. He added that the companies he spoke to have gone to other communities, but have never seen a turnout like this.
The most solicited jobs were those with the petroleum companies of the Eagle Ford Shale Project which are located in Dimmit County.
These companies garnered the most attention as they are the highest paying jobs in South Texas at this time and they are recruiting the most amount of workers in this area.
There were others, however, such as the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino, the EPISD, health care agencies, the US Border Patrol and Homeland Security.
Many filled out applications and were told they would be contacted in the coming days.
Jose Faz of the Workforce Center said the event had favorable results and they hope to have a similar event soon.
