La Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Dimmit informó el 21 de diciembre de 2024 que, junto con el Cuerpo de Bomberos del condado de Dimmit, respondieron a un accidente de varios vehículos que involucró el vuelco de un camión con remolque y un derrame de combustible en las cercanías de la HWY 277 y el Loop 517.
"A su llegada, los Servicios Médicos evaluaron y transportaron a varias personas involucradas en el accidente a un hospital local para recibir tratamiento. El departamento observó el camión con remolque de costado con combustible derramándose del remolque cisterna", informó DCSO.
Los bomberos rápidamente iniciaron medidas de precaución para aislar el derrame/fuga, estableciendo una distancia de 150 pies en todas direcciones.
Se recomendó a varias empresas cercanas que evacuaran la zona.
Los bomberos permanecieron en el lugar hasta que el camión fue levantado y retirado.
Las agencias involucradas en el incidente incluyeron la Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Dimmit, el DPS de Texas, Wards Wrecker Service, AJ Wrecker Service y Tavos Towing.
18 Wheeler Tanker Truck Overturns in Crash Causing Panic as Fuel Spills
A tragedy was avoided after a fuel tanker/18 wheeler truck was involved in a motor vehicle accident in Dimmit County, ending up on its side and spilling it's fuel content.
The Dimmit County Sheriff's Office on December 21, 2024, reported that they alongside the Dimmit County Fire Rescue responded to a multi-vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer rollover with fuel spill in the vicinity of HWY 277 & Loop 517.
"Upon arrival, Medical Services evaluated and transported several individuals involved in the accident to a local hospital for treatment. The department observed the tractor-trailer on its side with fuel spilling from the tanker trailer," informed DCSO.
Firefighters promptly initiated precautionary measures to isolate the spill/leak, establishing a 150-foot distance in all directions.
Several nearby businesses were advised to evacuate the area.
The fire department remained on scene until the tractor-trailer was uprighted and removed.
