Las autoridades del lado de los Estados Unidos se pusieron rápidamente en contacto con las autoridades mexicanas, que pudieron alcanzar a Turrubiates y detenerlo.
Horas más tarde, fue entregado a las autoridades estadounidenses.
Turrubiates fue trasladado al Centro de Detención Tom Bowles y acusado de asalto agravado con arma letal.
Turrubiates recibió una fianza de $500.000 dólares y ha permanecido encarcelado desde el día de su arresto hace dos años.

Downtown Knife Attacker to Appear in Court on July 31st
25-year-old Christopher Turrubiates who was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charges after he brutally attacked 61-year-old Alicia Treviño de Arroyo in the downtown area of the community back on August 2022 will be appearing in the 293rd District Court on July 31, 2024, for a status hearing.
A status hearing in a criminal case is an opportunity for the judge to determine whether the case will be a guilty plea or go into trial.
This case has been going on for 2 years and took place outside a business location on Commercial St. when the defendant attacked the victim, stabbing her several times including in the face, neck and chest.
The victim was left lying out on the street as Turrubiates then sped off in a vehicle attempting to get away from authorities.
Turrubiates drove his vehicle to the Shelby Park area where he drove it into the Rio Grande and then proceeded to swim across into Piedras Negras.
Authorities on the United States’ side quickly made contact with Mexican authorities who were able to catch up to Turrubiates and detain him.
Hours later, he was turned over to U.S. authorities.
Turrubiates was then transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon criminal charges.
Turrubiates was given a $500,000 bond, and he has remained incarcerated since the day of his arrest 2 years ago.
The victim was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Centers emergency room and has since recovered from the injuries she sustained from the unprovoked attack.
Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is typically considered a second-degree felony in Texas.
