Paco Farias’ The Long Game Goes to #1 on Netflix

The great news this week is that Eagle Pass’ very own Paco Farias has not only been taken by the Netflix streaming service, it is Netflix’s most-watched movie. 

According to Collider, inspirational sports stories have long been a favorite among among audiences, from Rudy to The Miracle.

Now The Long Game fits right in on this long list of movies.

Based on Humberto Garcia’s novel Mustang Miracle, The Long Game tells the tale of the fi\ve San Felipe caddies who come together as a team and against all odds, wins The 1957 Texas State Golf Championship.

The director of this film was Julio Quintana guided Miguel Angel Garcia, Check Marin, Julian Works and Jaina Lee Ortiz.

Quintana co-wrote the feature with Farias and Jennifer C. Stetson and it was Co-Produced Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

“I think everyone involved feels incredibly thrilled that the movie has resonated with such a wide audience,” said Farias, “I always felt it had that potential. It’s great to see it realized on such a far-reaching platform and see it climb to number one in the charts so quickly. It’s important to tell our stories and to highlight our culture in a positive light. That’s been my mission for a quite a while now. I’m happy Netflix took a chance on us. It paid off in a big way and hopefully they’ll be incentivized to let us do more.”
