The Eagle Pass Police Department is warning reckless drivers that continued acts and illegal behavior including in public streets and spaces will not be tolerated.

Eagle Pass Police Chief Federico Garza informed that the department continues receiving calls reporting vehicles driving in a reckless manner, including being spotted several times driving recklessly at the Eagle Pass Sports Complex parking area, among other public spaces.

"We will not tolerate this type of reckless behavior that could put lives in danger!" said Chief Garza. "There are steep consequences if you get caught, including hefty fines."

Those individuals who are out reckless driving and street racing are left with a stark reminder of a tragic incident that took the life of professional racer Cali Nate back in the month of April.

Nate was participating in a street racing event being held near the Radar Base, 12 miles north of Eagle Pass, when he lost control of his vehicle and overturned several times. He was pronounced deceased at the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Centers later that evening.

"That tragedy serves as a reminder to these individuals who are out street racing and driving recklessly," said Chief Garza. "Mr. Schaldach had years of experience behind the wheel of racing vehicles and tragically he lost his life while racing in our community.

An individual with much less experience puts his or her life in danger and that of others every time they decide to speed and drive recklessly," concluded Chief Garza.
