Esto incluye South Loop-480, North Veterans Blvd, Spur 216, US 57 N., FM 1021, Industrial Park Blvd.
18 Wheeler Rolls Over on Eidson Rd, Brings Questions
as to Who is Following City's Truck Route Ordinance
By Jose G Landa
The Eagle Pass Police Department on Saturday afternoon was summoned to the 1000 block on Eidson Road regarding a tractor trailer rollover accident.
Upon arriving at the scene, EPPD officers made contact with the operator of an 18-wheeler tractor trailer that had flipped on its side and lost his cargo.
The cargo were several heavy pipes that were being transported through the area.
It's believed that the driver was attempting to make his way through Eidson Rd. to connect to the truck route that leads to the Industrial Park area and/or Bridge No. 2.
Unfortunately, while turning onto a two lane street, the trailers cargo shifted and turned the truck over.
These are the types of dangers that the City of Eagle Pass has been trying to avoid with the implementation of a truck ordinance, which has designated areas that commercial trucks need to follow.
Those trucks can only go into the city limits to drop off cargo, but they need to follow a certain route.
The following roadways are part of the city's designated truck route system.
This includes South Loop-480, North Veterans Blvd, Spur 216, US 57 N., FM 1021, Industrial Park Blvd.
It will be extended as follows: full stretch of SL-480, between Spur 216 to US 277 N., between Veterans Blvd. to US 57 N., between Spur 216 to SL-480, between SL -480 to Mathiwos, and between SL-480 to FM 1021.
Eidson Rd. is not on the designated truck route list.
The Eagle Pass Police Department had the area shut down for several hours while the truck and cargo were picked up.
