City to Host 14 Yr Old Babe Ruth World Series in August

The Eagle Pass Babe Ruth Baseball organization and the City of Eagle Pass will be hosting this year's Babe Ruth Baseball League 14 year old World Series in the month of August. 



Local officials including City Manager Homero Balderas and City Councilman Mario E. Garcia were joined by Babe Ruth League  Commissioner Robert Connor and Area Babe Ruth League President Morris Libson Jr. at an announcement made on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

During the announcement, Connor and Libson signed the event contract, which is expected to bring more than 15 teams from across the country, and internationally, to play. The city of Eagle Pass and Del Rio will have their teams competing in this tournament. 

The tournament will be taking place from August 8th through the 18th at the Eagle Pass Patsy Winn Sports Complex.

During the event, Mr. Libson also informed that the tournament would be dedicated in honor of the late CC and Patsy Winn, who have done so much for the community, including donating the land where the Sports Complex was constructed.

Libson also informed that efforts to construct an all inclusive baseball field for those individuals with a handicap.

Libson added that they are looking to construct that park near the EP Sports Complex and will name it after longtime educator and community advocate Lynn Purcell, who was an important part of the Babe Ruth Baseball League in our community. They will also be forming the Lynn Purcell Baseball League for individuals of different disabilities.
