County Attorney Ricardo Ramos informed The News Gram that he is requesting an audience with the 293rd District Court to have District Judge Dick Alcala to review procedure in the naming of the new county commissioner of Precinct 1, Gerardo Morales after the official resignation of Eliaz Maldonado.

Ramos said that in his function as County Attorney, it is up to him to verify these types of procedures and in this case he will call upon the opinion of the district judge on behalf of the people of Maverick County.

Alcala had named Javier Libson as interim county commissioner of Precinct 1 immediately after suspending Maldonado.

Ramos added that he expects Alcala to determine if procedure was followed as well as to determine whether his appointment still stands.

The case needs to be reviewed by district court because a person was named to the position, therefore the position was not vacant, it was being filled by an interim commissioner, Libson.

When asked about the position soon to be vacated by Commissioner Cesar Flores, the position would be vacant and Judge Saucedo would name his successor.

As of now, there is no time and date for said audience.
