“We’ve got a lot of returners coming back, so I feel we have a lot of potential. We’ve been working on the fundamentals. We’ve got three tournaments coming up real soon, so we’re gonna see some good pitching, then on February 20th we’ve got Southwest here at home, so hopefully we’ll be ready when that time comes.”
“This weekend we will be at the Navarro tournament, we’ve got six games in two days, Thursday and Friday.”
Then we’re off to The Laredo Border Olympics where we have another six games there, then the last week of February we’re back at the Seguin Tournament,” said Coach Martinez, “That’s a pretty big one. It’s all about facing tougher opponents pre-district.”
He says he’s working with the kids at practice to get them mentally tough in order to fight through adversity.
“When we’re inside the cage we’re trying to stay inside the ball and making sure our head’s not flying out. We’re also working on communicating.”
Gina Carrillo returns at shortstop, Janie Rodriguez at catcher, Yareh Garcia is our returning third baseman, Natalie Lopez in center field, Michelle Martinez is a returning first baseman, Anissa Cardona returns at Pitcher, Adamaris Avila, Alejandra Fernández and a freshman Claire Leija at second.
