Close to 10,000 Undocumented Migrants Apprehended Last Week

The Del Rio Sector Border Patrol continues dealing with unheard of numbers of apprehensions on a weekly basis.

Just last week they had approximately 9,992 apprehensions.

What is even more surprising is the number of individuals that are known to have gotten away and avoided being detained.

According to the Sector's weekly report there were 4,232 Known Gotaways. These are individuals that were in some way detected, by either sensors, video surveillance or other security measuring devices but managed to avoided being detained.

Border Patrol authorities are often concerned over this number because you never know who is among those large numbers of people doing everything possible to avoid being detained.

During the week, agents also rescued 20 people.

There were also 22 large groups of individuals who crossed the Rio Grande River together and turned themselves in to the agency.
