Maverick County Judge David Saucedo on Thursday informed that the $8 million dollars in certificates of obligation being sought are designated for all four county precincts as part of a plan implemented in the past years.

The monies from the  loan will be used for capital improvement projects (paving, drainage) and will be distributed according to the needs of each precinct.

Saucedo declared that the projects in question are mainly paving projects, and do change depending what each precinct needs as per the studies and reviews that have been undertaken.

Judge Saucedo then gave a breakdown as to how the funding will be distributed to each precinct’s Commissioner.

Pct. 1 will receive $1.6 million dollars, Pct. 2 will get $2.6 million, Pct. 3 will receive $2.3 million, while Pct. 4 will get $1 million dollars.

Saucedo clarified that Pct. 2 and 3 would be receiving more funding because they do have way more needs than the other two precincts.

The four precincts will also have certain funding allocated to them for water drainage projects.

The funding could be coming in by late November.

This is something that could be delayed if a group that is in opposition of the loan are able to take it to an election.

He added that the list of projects will be presented at a September 12 meeting and public hearing.

"The funding will be spent by the incoming administration. I will continue doing my job until my final day as County Judge. This is part of our plans to provide the services to our residents," stated Saucedo.

The following days will determine if the opposing group are able to find enough signatures to force an election on the $8 million dollar bonds.
