Conference on cervical cancer to be held

The Mexican Consulate will hold a conference to discuss the dangers of breast and cervical cancer. The discussion will be given by Silvia Olivares and Rebecca Rios who are experts on the issues and they are familiar with local cases in the area. The program will begin at 10:00 A.M. in the Conference Center at the Mexican Consulate on Garrison. All women are encouraged to attend and learn about these life threatening illnesses and that can be treated and even prevented if detected early. Health authorities in Eagle Pass have said that early detection is the key in dealing with cancer and have announced that in Eagle Pass there are programs which, if women qualify, they can receive exams which can detect these types of cancer. Cancer is an ailment which has run rampant in the Eagle Pass area and they wish to raise awareness amongst women of the importance of taking care of oneself and of their family. Mexican Consulate Ricardo Santana, said that through several agencies and in coordination with his office, he wishes to host conferences such as this to promote health and to combat diseases. Since these seminars are free of charge, people should take advantage of them.
