Eagle Pass Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Rodolfo Cardona reported that EMS personnel were summoned to an area along the Rio Grande at around 5:00am where two male subjects believed to be undocumented immigrants had fallen off a 20-foot ravine.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found the two individuals; one had no signs of life unfortunately. The other subject suffered severe injuries and was transported to the Fort Duncan Regional Medical Centers Emergency Room.
The severly injured victim was then transported to a San Antonio, Texas hospital.
At this point, the nationality of the individuals has not been made public.
For several months, the United States Border Patrol has had an increase of rescues as individuals attempting to cross illegally into the country are taking too many risks to try to avoid detention.
