It's been 8 months since Texas Governor Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star to help address the crisis at the Southern Border.

Since then, thousands of Texas Department of Public Safety and Military Department personnel have adjoined in the task along United States Border Patrol.

Governor Abbott and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) today launched Operation Lone Star to combat the smuggling of people and drugs into Texas.

Locally, DPS Troopers and National Guard Troops are safeguarding areas along the Rio Grande River, where illegal immigration has skyrocketed as compared to previous years.

Operation Lone Star integrates DPS with the Texas National Guard and deploys air, ground, marine, and tactical border security assets to high threat areas to deny Mexican Cartels and other smugglers the ability to move drugs and people into Texas.

"Texas National Guard soldiers & Texas Department of Public Safety personnel are working night and day to crack down on the influx of drugs, crime, and people coming into Texas due to Biden's open border policies. Thank you for keeping Texans safe and securing our border," stated Gov. Abbott.
