During the conference, Superintendent Mijares reported that the School District has been providing rapid testing at the school campuses. This is solely done with parental consent and results are available within 15 minutes.
Mijares added that in the past three weeks, 100 students have been tested with only one coming back positive.
Superintendent Mijares also stated that positive cases have remained relatively low if compared to the total number of students and staff.
“Since the start of school in August we have had approximately 187 positive Covid-19 cases," stated Mijares.
Mijares also stated that they see a downward trend that is also following a drop in local cases. "So far this week we have only had 6 new positive Covid-19 cases," added Mijares.
The Eagle Pass Independent School District is working alongside the City and County to stop the spread of Covid-19.
