Eagle Pass native Josue Abraham Brown  has been awarded the OHTLI award in Indiana.

A Native of Eagle Pass, Texas, Brown is a local Latino community leader. He has co-founded Evansville Latino Center and has also served as the Director of Latino ministry in Henderson, KY since 2008.

During a ceremonial celebration, the Mayor of Evansville, Indiana, Lloyd Winnecke, and the Consul General of Mexico in Indianapolis, Luis Franco presented the OHTLI award to Engineer Mr. Brown who is a well-known leader of the Latino community in Southern Indiana and Northwest Kentucky.

The Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs recognizes individuals who have aided, empowered, or positively affected the lives of Mexican nationals abroad.

The award, which is the highest honor a United States citizen can receive from the country of Mexico, was presented to Brown in a collaborative effort between the Mexican Consulate and Secretary of Foreign Relations.

The OHTLI Award is a recognition given to a citizen who promotes working partnerships with Mexico and the advancement of the Border Areas. It defines the person as one who opens paths to success and opportunities.
