Commissioner Barry Jordan and Morris Libson gave their blessing and The Honorable Rolando Salinas, Mayor of the City of Eagle Pass threw out the first pitch. CBP Post 2303 was on hand with their Explorers to handle the presentation of colors. The National Anthem was interpreted by CC Winn Senior Karla Hernandez.
“On behalf of Babe Ruth Baseball I appreciate the opportunity of being here in Eagle Pass, said Barry Jordan, Commissioner of Babe Ruth Baseball, “I want to thank all the volunteers here and all the workers for all the hard work that they’ve done and the work that is impending.”
The impression that this, the first official event of this complex, has had on our visitors that have come from as far away as Connecticut and Pennsylvania on the east coast and California and Washington on the west coast and all points in between from the forests of Mississippi and Kentucky the Ohio Valley and North Dakota is one of sheer amazement.
“You should be proud as a community to have a facility such as this,” said a parent visiting our fair city from Pennsylvania.
The parade of teams was a sight to see as the protagonists of this tournament were sporting brand new uniforms furnished by Babe Ruth Baseball.
Thus, the first call of “Play ball!” has been commanded at Winn Park as America’s pastime has arrived to Eagle Pass and Maverick County.
