Libson: World Series Ready for Takeoff!
Preparations have culminated and expectations are at their peak as ten teams from across America are en route to descend on our fair city for the 2021 15 Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series set to begin August 10th.
The Eagle Pass News Gram caught up with Babe Ruth Commissioner Morris Libson who gave us the lowdown on how the impending event is ready for takeoff.
"The World Series Committee is working real well with the city. Our sponsors have really backed us and we've got all the teams confirmed," Libson stated at the recent Dream Big Collegiate Baseball Camp held on Wednesday, "We've got Eagle Pass who will be playing as the host team, Del Rio representative of South Texas, and we've got teams from all over the United States."
Teams from Turnbull, Connecticut, Kelsi, Washington, from the California coast come Tri-Valley from Southern California, Tallahassee, Florida, Bismarck, North Dakota from the Midwest Plains, as well as Lexington, Kentucky.
"We start with our opening ceremonies next Tuesday," he added, "Right after that, we start with the first four games of pool play. Eagle Pass will always be the last game of the night."
Two champions will advance from each pool for bracket play and two teams from the other divisions will advance to semi-final play.
All games will be held at the new Eagle Pass Patsy Winn Sports Complex.
