During this time, the DPS Troopers have worked alongside United States Border Patrol Agents in securing the border region which has led to the detention of hundreds, if not thousands of undocumented immigrants.
A few weeks ago, in Del Rio, TX Abbott announced that he would be looking at agents being able to arrest any undocumented immigrants caught trespassing.
This certainly changes the scope of the mission for all involved.
For now, many of those Troopers are away from their families and loved ones while patrolling the border region, dealing with an illegal immigration crisis.
