During a meeting held on Monday, July 12, Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and the court were presented with information regarding the interest and sale of the Certificates of Obligation.
The interest rate will be at 1.89 percent for a 15 year period. During that time the County can refinance the COB's or even pay them off before time.
The County is in the final stages of acquiring approximately $6.1 million dollars in COB 's for several capital improvement projects that have been in the works for a while. These projects include the renovation and construction of the Maverick County Tax Accessor Collectors Offices, Pct. 1 Commissioner Offices, Security Substation for Pct. 4, Pct. 1 Justice of the Peace Offices, South Side Food Pantry, Maverick County Lake Amphitheater, Adult Probation Department building, and several other projects which includes street paving in all 4 precincts.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo has stated that the Certificates of Obligation would not come with an increase in ad valorem taxes.
The County is about to finish paying off a debt of over $1 million dollars where the payment for the Certificates would come from. Maverick County currently has a debt of $37,000,000.
