Local residents along the 2700 to 2900 blocks of El Indio Highway are furious over the exacerbated problem that has been caused by the construction of the concrete medians that the Texas Department of Transportation have built.

Residents did not have to wait long for their concerns to become a reality as mother nature dropped close to 4 inches of rain within an hours time on Monday, inundating the area including the El Indio Highway area in question.

Some residents have stated that they have contacted officials, who have stated that the flooding problems were already there in the first place.

The question to ask, if officials knew that the area was prone to flooding then why build the medians that will only add to the problem.

"My house and business were flooded with less water this time," said a resident. “We want answers and actions. The fact that the flooding was not taken into consideration when they began the construction project only means to us that they were only looking for a place to come and show that they are out working. You all came in and earned your pay including overtime hours and are now gone. Now you leave the mess to us."

The Texas Department of Transportation has now moved on to Bibb St.

Residents are now left to fend for themselves as they feel that their well-being and their property’s conditions were not considered. That includes possible difficulties of getting their homes and businesses covered under an insurance plan due to the increase dangers of flooding in the area due to the capital improvement projects now in place.
