The community has been hit hard due in part to a winter storm that has practically shut down most of the state.

Families in Maverick County are going on more than 3 days without light and water as the organizations involved struggle to get back on track.
The Eagle Pass Waterworks System reported on Wednesday that they have not been able to keep up to the demand.
EPWWS General Manager Jorge Barrera stated during a conference held on Wednesday morning that the water system should be stabilized by Wednesday night.
“TCEQ has advised us to issue out a boil advisory. We are now sending sufficient water to our tanks. We ask you to check your waterlines for any breakages. Furthermore, we will be sending out personnel to check on waterlines and if they're broken we will be shutting down those lines to assist," said Barrera.
Electricity has not shut down our plants. We have been sending water, but we just haven't been keeping up to demand and breakages.
Maverick County Judge David Saucedo and Eagle Pass Mayor Luis Sifuentes advised the community that many of the water problems are due to breakages and open water lines that are not allowing for pressure to build up in the lines and tanks.
They do advise that recommendations are that if you are receiving water to conserve and make sure you boil for human consumption.
