Tuesday, January 12th, I had the honor of being sworn into office to represent the 12 counties that make up Texas House District 74.

My team and I have been hard at work this week reaching out to local-level elected officials across all 12 counties to get their list of priorities, advocating for transportation funding, pushing for additional allocations of COVID-19 vaccines, and drafting bills to file this session.

Following the oath of office on January 19th, the House of Representatives nominated Representative Dade Phelan as Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives. With 143 votes, Representative Phelan of Texas House District 21 was sworn in as the House Speaker. Speaker Phelan took the oath of office with his family by his side. This week, members also voted on housekeeping resolutions and the House Rules for the 87th Legislative Session.
