Officials wait to know when more Covid 19 Vaccines will be sent to our Community

The Maverick County area did not receive an allotment of Covid-19 Vaccines during the third week of distribution. 

Public and Health Officials are anxiously awaiting to have a better understanding of when they will receive a large amount of doses to begin a mass inoculation effort.

Last week, 500 vaccines were shipped into the community which were designated for three organizations. The Maverick County Hospital District received 300 vaccines, United Medical Centers on El Indio Highway received a100 each.

Those vaccines in part have been used and those agencies like so many others wait for further details on what's ahead. Meanwhile, Covid-19 positive cases continue increasing on a daily basis. On Tuesday evening, Emergency Operation Center Officials announced that positive cases were now at 6,393. Of those, 5,414 have recovered.

There have been 161 deaths from complications related to the Covid-19 Virus in our community.
