Local Health Officials are notifying the public that there is no set date (time frame) for Maverick County to receive vaccines to begin treating the general population.

What's known up to now, is that a certain amount of doses will begin to be delivered across the Nation before the end of December. Our region has yet to be notified when exactly they will be able to receive such doses.
United Medical Centers, who have been designated as one of the region's leading Vaccine Administrators, is waiting for further notice on how many doses they will get to cover Maverick, Val Verde and Kinney Counties.
UMC Chief Executive Officer William Worrell stated that once they receive the first round of vaccines, they have been given direct instructions to administer the vaccines by order including medical personnel, first responders, and individuals over the age of 60 years old.
"We have been receiving hundreds of phone calls of people wanting to know when they can receive the vaccine," stated Worrell." We have not been given a time frame for the general public. Once we do have that information we will notify the communities."
Worrell does ask the community for patience and to please refrain from calling because UMC phone lines are needed to be able to allow patients seeking for other medical treatments to call and set up appointments and other medical inquiries.
