As the Covid-19 Virus continues its surge across the state and country, Maverick County health and public officials continue urging the public to take safety measures to slow the spread of the virus that had killed 153 in our community.

Locally, the Emergency Operation Center is inundated with contact tracing, and other Pandemic response duties including dealing with a resurgence of testing and positive cases.
During the first two weeks in November there have been over 340 new cases and close to 2,780 people tested.
This is quite concerning due to the fact that more positive cases are expected before the month ends.
“We haven't even gotten pass Thanksgiving, and we're seeing a huge increase,” said Mayor Luis Sifuentes.
Officials are hoping people are extremely conscious of what we're dealing with.
“This is certainly not over,”stated Judge David Saucedo.
Officials continue working on ways to mitigate the problem. But the reality is that as long as the public doesn't do their part we will continue to see Covid-19 spread further in our community.
