During a special meeting held on Thursday, November 12, the Commissioners Court approved a construction contract with Cobalt Construction for the Amphitheater project in the amount of $2.6 million.
Back in the month of August, Commissioners Court approved to reject the proposals submitted for the construction of the Maverick County Lake Amphitheater due to the high costs being proposed.
During the meeting held on Monday, August 24, County Judge David Saucedo presented the Commissioners Court with information and an item seeking to reject the proposals that had been submitted by several constructors and to readvertise due to the high costs.
Judge Saucedo and County Engineer Hector Canales explained that the quotes submitted had come in too high and that the County could reject them to seek other avenues to save the entity funds.
“We found some cost saving measures that will get the project where we want it to come in,” said Saucedo. “We felt that the bids came in too high.”
The Court moved to seek other Proposals and is now ready to move forward with the Amphitheater project at the Maverick County Lake which will be of a great benefit for the entire community.
