Although the number of positive cases has been going down during September as compared to the previous two months, officials urge residents to continue practicing all social distancing measures and safety precautions.
The month of September, up until the 25th, had a total of 381 Positive Covid-19 cases. This is a decrease of 71% as compared to the month of August, which had 1,352 positive Covid-19 cases reported.
Officials are bracing for what could be a second wave of Covid-19 cases as the flu season is set to begin.
Last week, the Emergency Operation Center reported that the number of positive cases was at 3,743, with 3,312 that have recovered. Eagle Pass Mayor Luis Sifuentes announced that there were only 17 new cases reported over the weekend, with 12 of them being from inmates at the Tom Bowles Detention Center.
Sadly, there have been 125 deaths related to the Covid-19 outbreak in our community.
There are 306 active cases, with 102 pending.
There have been 19,183 tests conducted with 15,383 coming back negative.
The positivity rate is at 19.6 percent.
