EP rotary club donates to the South Texas Food Bank

The Eagle Pass Rotary Club presented the South Texas Food Bank a $1,000 donation on Tuesday, July 21. 

The donation will be used by the Food Bank as part of their food commodities assistance program which covers approximately 9 counties across the region Including Maverick County. The check presentation took place at a food distribution event held in Quemado where 200 families were assisted.

Present during the donation event was Maverick County Emergency Coordinator Polo Vielma, Food Pantry Director Rosa De Hoyos, EP Rotary Club President Rachel Draeger, members Rachel Maldonado, and Mary Gray.

The Eagle Pass Rotary Club was chartered in 1922 and is one of the oldest Rotary clubs in the US.

In recent times, they made significant contributions to our region such as the Mammogram Machine donated to a Hospital in Piedras Negras, the building of a Medical Clinic in Nava accessible free of charge for the community at large, numerous educational scholarships to local students, school supply donations to less fortunate children in the Eagle Pass ISD, supporting the children of the Wintergarden Women's Shelter, various donations from our local and other Rotary clubs to the Disaster Relief efforts following the tornado that affected the Rosita Valley area, amongst others.

Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
