An active duty service member assigned to Laughlin Air Force Base tested positive for COVID-19 on June 24, 2020, and is currently in isolation. Before testing, the individual was self-quarantining for 14 days and did not have direct contact with members from the local community.

“The virus is impacting the lives of many within this community and it's important that we actively seek to slow its spread,” said Col. Lee Gentile, 47th Flying Training Wing commander. “During this time, we will continue to work with health care professionals to mitigate the effects of this virus while providing the necessary care to our military member.” Public health officials have completed contact tracing. “Our leadership team is committed to ensuring the community's continued safety, and we are actively engaged and monitoring this evolving situation,” said Gentile.

The base continues to require the use of facial coverings when six feet of physical distancing is not possible, while practicing preventative measures as outlined by the Center for Disease Control and Secretary of Defense.

Members displaying symptoms outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or who have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or who have recently traveled from an affected area should immediately contact the 47th Medical Group appointment line at 830-298-6333 (during regular duty hours) or the Nurse Advice Line at — 800-874-2273.
